Annual Student Award Ceremony at Languages & Cultures at Macquarie University

The annual Student Award ceremony at Languages & Cultures MQ was held on 12 May 2022 to celebrate the successes of our wonderful students in their 2021 studies and also the dedicated and hardworking staff.

This year two Croatian studies students were awarded in the presence of the Croatian Ambassador, H.E. Betty Pavelich and the Croatian Consul General, Ivica Glasnovic. In attendance was also the Croatian Studies Foundation president Anthony Gurlica.

The Narona Vidovic Prize was awarded to Milena Barizon for her outstanding performance in Croatian 1000, 2000 and 3000 level language units.

The Croatian Studies Foundation and Croatian Studies Centre want to acknowledge and thank the ongoing support of Narona Vidovic Family from Canberra who have been sponsors of the prize for over 20 years.

Congratulations also goes to Todd Brennan from Perth who received the European Union Prize for his outstanding performance in languages of the European Union. Todd’s excellence in his achievement is proof that Croatian Language is possible to study from anywhere in Australia.

Acknowledgment of hard work also goes to the staff of the Croatian Studies Centre with special thanks to Croatian Studies Director, Dr Jasna Novak Milic. Not only is Jasna integral to leading the preservation and continuation of the Croatian Studies in Australia, but she is also the primary contact and support for the students of Croatian language.
